Source note
Winner's 198,004 votes confirmed consistently across The Star and The Standard. Runner-up David Musila's vote count is reported inconsistently: The Standard ("Despite little support, Malombe recaptures Kitui governor's seat") reports 117,606; The Star ("Malombe wins back Kitui governor seat") reports 114,606. The Standard's figure is used here but marked unconfirmed given the discrepancy. Third place: Jonathan Mueke (UDA), 10,639 votes (both sources agree). UPDATE: this race now has a complete, all-8-constituency official IEBC polling-station-level breakdown attached (1597 stations across Kitui Central, Kitui East, Kitui Rural, Kitui South, Kitui West, Mwingi Central, Mwingi North, and Mwingi West) for the Analytics page's drill-down feature. This also resolved two things: (1) runner-up David Musila's vote count, previously uncertain between two conflicting media reports, is corroborated by this independent full-county IEBC sum (117,939) landing far closer to The Standard's 117,606 than The Star's 114,606 - the figures_unconfirmed flag on this race is cleared on that basis; (2) fourth-place Charity Kaluki Ngilu's vote count is upgraded from an earlier partial figure (1,255, summed from only 5 of 8 constituencies) to her true, now-complete full-county total of 2026.
