Turnout by election cycle

Party dominance

Kitui has elected a Wiper-affiliated Senator in every cycle since 2013; Governor has been Wiper in 2013 and 2022, with a NARC governor (Charity Ngilu) in 2017.

Placed side by side so you can compare turnout swings against which party won, cycle by cycle.

Coalition context

Party dominance in Kenya is shaped as much by national coalitions as by the party label on the ballot. The parties recorded here have shifted alliances across cycles:

  • CORD (Coalition for Reforms and Democracy, 2013): Raila Odinga (ODM), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Moses Wetangula (Ford-Kenya).
  • Jubilee Alliance / Jubilee Party (2013 and 2017): Uhuru Kenyatta (TNA, later Jubilee) and William Ruto (URP, later Jubilee) ran together both cycles.
  • NASA (National Super Alliance, 2017): Raila Odinga (ODM), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Musalia Mudavadi (ANC), Moses Wetangula (Ford-Kenya).
  • Azimio la Umoja (2022): Raila Odinga's coalition, this time joined by Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee, opposing Kenya Kwanza, William Ruto's UDA-led coalition.

This is general national context, not a claim about which coalition every individual Kitui candidate belonged to in a given race - check each race's own page for its recorded party.

Pick a seat and year to see every recorded candidate's votes, summed by party, not just the winner.

Constituency narrows President (2022 only) and MP; Ward narrows MCA. Both are hidden automatically for the fully county-wide seats (Governor, Senator, Woman Representative), and the ward list narrows to match whichever constituency you pick.
